AfSBT STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS: AfSBT 10TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS, DAKAR, 20 TO 23 APRIL, 2020
health, safety and well-being of our congresses’ attendees and staff are
extremely important to the AfSBT, hence, the AfSBT was closely monitoring, on
daily basis, the worldwide evolvement of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
situation and associated travel and quarantine restrictions.
the situation in Senegal is still stable , but with the pandemic status
declared by the WHO recently and trajectories seen in other countries, we
decided to postpone (not to cancel) the AfSBT 10th International
Congress that was scheduled to be conducted in Dakar, Senegal during the period
from 20 to 23 April 2020 to a later date during 2020.
date for the congress will be shared with all our partners as soon as the
pandemic status declared by WHO is revoked and this date will consider the
agenda of comparable international events and will consider enough time to
re-establish relevant logistical arrangements. Should you have any individual
or specific concerns regarding your future participation, we can discuss
bilaterally how we can proceed. Meanwhile, we will continue our soft congress
preparations and arrangements to be ready to embark our congress as soon as the
confirm again that the health and safety of our attendees and partners are our
most important priority. As such, the AfSBT will continue to closely monitor
the developing situation and commits itself to providing regular updates to our
very grateful for the ongoing support of our speakers, sponsors, and attendees
who continue to register and plan for the event, we really count on your
understanding, cooperation and flexibility.
